Rennes and Stimpy

Allo mes amis!

After learning that yesterday is France;s birthday we also learned the transit schedule runs on a different time. Made it onto our train with two mins to spare and broke speed records for running with these packs on our backs. Easy train ride along the coast for a couple hours and arrived in time for another baguette on the day. Hotel Bretagne is right across from the train station and is an alright two star. Unfortunately due to Eurails amazing ability to screw us over we are here for two more days. Nobody told us - EMMA - that we had to book all our trains the second we touched down. Most trains are now booked and to get out of this damned city we spent two hours at the station with the newest employee they had.

All our trains are booked and we had to buy an extra ticket since Eurail seats were booked 2 weeks in advance - and no, you cannot do it online. Clearly we are riding the bitter bus typing away in this upstairs attic of a convenience store-turned cyber world. Might play dungeons and dragons after with the nerd downstairs.

Off to Mont St Michel tomorrow and off to Strasbourg on the 17th - home of Kronenbourg!! Might check out St Malo this afternoon if time permits - beach town about 30 mins away.

Emma - when did you stop being vegetarian. We have heard a different story than what you told us from David and Yvonne.
Barb and Rick - hello. are you still there! havent heard from you in a while.
Barb and Peter - bonjour. the cider here is revolting and I made the mistake of getting a bunch at once our first night. blech!
James and Caitlin - thanks for being our friends.

A bientot et bon journee!

Pictures have been updated!

  1. bonjour! thanks for posting pictures, they are great! Jess, I didn't notice any repeats in your outfits, so you must be timing those photos well! :)
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate train incident, but I'm sure you two will make the best of everything! Enjoy your next excursions - I hope you're both wearing lots of sunscreen!
    Miss you lots.
ps. I appreciated the shout-out in your latest post, haha.

  2. Hi guys.

It sounds like you are having an amazing trip, minus the train schedules,French holiday's, sick stomachs, and unique hotels....wonderful! Anyway, mom and dad are at the cottage, but they ask everyday for an update on the blog. They seem to be using me as a messenger as well: Jess, mom wanted you to know that you got a letter to say that you have submitted all of the documents required by Alberta Education. She was worried that you might be stressing about this on your trip; I disagreed, however, now you know and now you can start to enjoy your vacation!

    Cheers,

    Sarah

  3. Ah yes, holidays in France seem to be endless. You will no doubt come across a couple more in the next two weeks. C'est la vie! (Emma, you will have to reimburse your fee for trip planning - didn't know you had taken that on.)Hope the bitter bus has left the station. Only happy buses for the rest of the trip. Thanks for posting the pic from Juno - great to see even if it did make my eyes a bit wet. Love the rest of the pics too. Sorry the cider didn't measure up to Waupoos. xxxxoooo

  5. Looks awesome so far. Been following you blog, but not writing comments because I find it completely awkward, you know like writing on a mass birthday card or somthing. Anyways...I always found that no matter how frustrated you were over there, there's a beer good enough to make you feel better. Have a Warstiener for me when you make your way through Germany. One tip of advice, when you go to germany, the fast food of choice seems to be a sausage served over fries with a curry sauce...it is as bad as it sounds.

    Cheers,

    Erich
